Dr Chuck (Charles) Bailey

From Country Boy to Transforming Lives

Cure The Future Foundation has made a real impact. Without their support, our discoveries would be significantly limited.

– Dr Chuck Bailey is the head of the Cancer and Gene Regulation Laboratory and the Centenary Institute

Growing up in Tamworth, NSW, Chuck Bailey had a passion for science. He moved to Sydney, earned a PhD in Biopharmaceutical Research, and now, with 24 years of expertise, leads groundbreaking genetic research at the Centenary Institute.

A husband and father of three, Chuck commutes from Bowral, dedicating his career to gene therapy—targeting rare diseases, including haemophilia, retinal blindness, and spinal muscular atrophy. His work lays the foundation for life-saving treatments, but without funding, progress halts.

Donations to Cure The Future provide researchers like Chuck with training, critical experiments, and cutting-edge equipment— accelerating discoveries that save lives. One such area of promise is Pompe disease. In collaboration with Westmead Hospital, Chuck is testing treatments for the rare genetic disorder that causes severe muscle weakness, heart failure, and early death.

Many families remain unaware of the condition until it directly impacts a loved one. Your support helps turn this vital research into real solutions, offering hope when it’s needed most. Together, we can transform the future for countless lives.
