What Cure The Future has given and where your donations go

Equipment donated

The equipment, solutions and other consumables used in a research laboratory are all very expensive.

To date, Cure The Future has provided about 12 different pieces of complex analysing machines and continues to support with purchases of necessary gels, solutions, gloves and other disposable items.

Qubit Fluorometer

This small machine provides accurate, specific, and sensitive quantification of DNA, RNA, or proteins. A recent purchase in June 2022, the Qubit is essential for checking DNA quality before samples are sent for sequencing.

Eppendorf Mastercycler x50 PCR Machine

This PCR machine is like a photocopier for DNA. We use it to make multiple copies of a particular piece of DNA we want to amplify. This new Mastercycler purchased in 2021 is faster and more reliable and is an integral part of many research experiments we conduct daily.

X-Cell SureLock

We use this apparatus to help detect a specific protein in a blood or tissue sample. This machine separates the sample’s proteins based on size. The lab currently has 4 of these machines to improve our understanding of protein expression.

ThermoMixer

This special incubator has a temperature range of 4C-100C. It enables cooling or heating of different sized reaction tubes combined with a mixing function. Importantly this allows excellent reproducibility for our demanding molecular biology experiments.

Blue Pippin DNA Purification

This is an essential machine used to select DNA molecules of specific sizes. This device is routinely used to promote our understanding of gene expression in normal and cancer cells.

RNA Sequencing (Macrogen)

To understand the conservation of gene expression controls in biology in order to achieve our ultimate goal to identify molecular mechanisms by which cancers are caused.

Kodak Western Blot Imager

One of our first purchases, this Kodak Imager uses a cooled camera so very low levels of light can be detected from an antibody chemical reaction and photographed. This state-of-the-art device was bought for $60,000 combined with funds from the Rebecca Cooper Foundation.

Syngene Gel Documentation System

The Syngene Gel Documentation System is a state of the art visualisation tool for recording DNA experiments in the laboratory. This machine is essential for almost all aspects of molecular biology undertaken in the laboratory. It is used dozens of times each day.

Nano Drop Spectro Photo Meter

This is an essential machine used to select DNA molecules of specific sizes. This device is routinely used to promote our understanding of gene expression in normal and cancer cells.

Nano String Gene Counting Technology

his innovative technology for studying DNA has unlocked valuable genetic information from small amounts of human cancer tissue.

Automated Cell Counter

This device provides an automated technology to improve the efficiency of cell counting. It is required dozens of times each day in the cell culture laboratory so we can study the proliferation and growth of cells.

CFX96 RealTime PCR System

This is an essential machine used to select DNA molecules of specific sizes. This device is routinely used to promote our understanding of gene expression in normal and cancer cells.

Eppendorf PCR Machine

The Eppendorf PCR machine is core to allow amplifications of DNA and RNA molecules to study gene expression and mutations.
